Join Blue Max for a special afternoon exploring an important part of our community’s history! We’ll be visiting the Missouri Historical Society’s Library and Research Center, which houses extensive archival collections documenting the history and experiences of the LGBTQIA+ community in St. Louis and beyond.

Highlights of the Collection

  • Lesbian Alliance of St. Louis Records (1973–1981): Newsletters, flyers, poetry, and Moonstorm magazine—voices from early lesbian feminist organizing.

  • Lesbian and Gay News Telegraph Records (1981–1990): Articles, newsletters, clippings, and oral history from one of St. Louis’s pioneering LGBTQ newspapers.

  • LGBTQIA+ Periodicals Library (1986–2014): National publications reflecting community life, parenting, politics, travel, and HIV/AIDS advocacy.

  • Metropolitan Community Church of Greater St. Louis Records (1970–2011): Administrative files, correspondence, and artifacts documenting faith and LGBTQ life.

  • PROMO Records (1984–2003): Meeting minutes, legislative materials, and educational resources from Missouri’s leading LGBTQ advocacy organization.

This outing is a wonderful opportunity to connect with our shared heritage, spark meaningful conversation, and deepen our appreciation for the struggles and triumphs that shaped our community. Friends and partners are warmly welcome—bring someone along to share this enriching experience.

Let’s honor our past together while building toward a stronger future.
